Peas Pulao

      Peas Pulao Or Matar pulao(as known in India) is our family favourite and go to rice dish for any party or even regular lunch or dinner. It goes well with Fried Fish, famous dalcha(dal gosht), chicken khorma, simple mutton curry.

Ingredients

4-5 Cups of Long grain Gautum Basmati Rice | 1 Cup Green Peas(Fresh Or Frozen) | 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic  | 1/2 Tsp cumin seeds(Zeera) + Whole garam masala | 1 Tsp red chili flakes | Salt to taste | 1 tbsp Oil + 1/2 Tsp Butter/Clarified Butter | 2-3 Slited green chilies | 1/2 Cup chopped cilantro | 1/2 Lemon Juice

Instructions

 Clean and wash the rice. soak in water for 30 mins

In a heavy bottom pan, add oil and heat it. Add in cumin seeds, whole garam masala and let it cook till the aroma of the spices blend in the oil.

Stir in ginger-garlic paste and saute till the uncooked aroma goes away. Add green peas, red chili flakes, salt to taste along with lemon juice, slited green chilies and little water. Let it simmer till the green peas are tender.

Add in the soaked rice. mix well. Add 1/2 Tsp of clarified butter and enough water to cover the rice. Bring it to a boil on high flame. 

When the water reduces, bring the flame on low, cover the pan with lid and cook till the rice is completely cooked.

Note - Do not over stir the rice else it will break..

Serve hot with your choice of gravy or fried fish. Well sticky peas pulao taste awesome with daal and fried fish.(Just pressure cook with extra water, till 3 whistles on low flame)
